Pete Wentz claims “Cloverfield” inspiration, apparently.

The rocker said he spoke to writer Drew Goddard at the film’s premiere, and that he revealed he was listening to their LP while producing the script.

Writing on his official blog, Wentz said: “Basically, I went to the premiere and Drew came up to me. He said the only thing he listened to when he was writing the movie was Infinity On High.

“I thought he was just being nice or blowing smoke up my ass, but we were huge fans of his writing on Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Lost, so we kept talking.

“He went on to cite specific songs. He mostly boiled it down to ‘The Take Over, The Break’s Over’, and my mind was blown.

“He said you could sync Infinity and Cloverfield up, like Pink Floyd and The Wizard Of Oz..

“I was like ‘Are you serious?’ and then he said, ‘Well, you probably couldn’t, but if we watched it together I could do it for you’.

“He pointed to some of the lines specifically, mostly on ‘The Take Over, The Break’s Over’. It’s interesting to see someone else’s interpretation of your songs. If you get a chance, check out the movie. And keep your eyes open at the end.”

Pete Wentz kisses dudes on the mouth! Surprised?

Star Magazine reports that Joe Simpson has banned Pete Wentz from Christmas at the Simpson household.

News in Star would not normally catch my attention, other than Pete being mentioned at all, but the reason for Pete’s ban really pisses me off: he’s kisses other dudes on the mouth. Boy HAS he, that’s part of his image, his appeal. He’s the man that has self-declared himself “gay above the waist.”

Pete’s habit of saying shit like that is one of my favorite things about him. Pete has consistently played around with how his sexuality is portrayed in the media, for better or for worse. He’s stated many times, and not always at opportune times in his career, that he doesn’t WANT fans that are homophobic. I LOVE that sentiment.

The entire situation stinks of silly family politics. Pete’s “Blender interview” has been mentioned in the gossip blogs as being what made Joe put his foot down, but the most recent feature Pete had in Blender was August’s “Collect Call from . . . ” where Pete, in response to playing a Wal-Mart shareholders meeting, says, “Apparently Ma and Pa Walton don’t really like it when I do interviews about kissing boys.”

That’s it? Previous Blenders have included Pete refusing to talk about his suicide attempt. Which, in many of the blogs, has been downgraded to a “rumored suicide attempt.”

I can’t help but think that Big Joe is just using the dude-kissing as a flimsy excuse to keep Pete out of his holidays. It is not on that he chose that as an excuse, not on at all.
