As Sarah reviewed
, she, I, and our friend Mary attended the UCB and WAS show last night at the Canal Room.

I was impressed at the level to which they’d gone to make the event feel like an actual, disastrous Corporate Holiday Party. Not just the “Company Members” who DJed and made announcements, but the nametags, shout-outs, speeches and powerpoint presentations. It was a well crafted bit of performance art, I just couldn’t tell if we were supposed to be in on the joke or not, which made it, at times, awkward. Overall on the enjoyable side, really, more on the verge of uncomfortable.

Having never seen We Are Scientists live before, I had absolutely no expectations for their show. I don’t think my lack of preconceived notion made the show any better, but I do think that I fully absorbed the impact of a seriously awesome show. WAS is definitely a band that loves being on stage, loves performing their little hearts out, and that type of enthusiasm deserves to be rewarded.

And, lo, it was, at least in my heart.
